Danielle breaks silence following NewJeans departure: 'This is not the end, but a beginning'

Danielle, who was recently removed from the girl group NewJeans following a monthslong contract dispute, broke her silence for the first time on Monday evening, expressing her heartfelt emotions and describing the current moment as “not the end, but a beginning.” At 7 p.m., Danielle held a 10-minute livestream on her newly launched personal Instagram account, just hours after she posted a teaser photo that read, “for those who waited 12 Jan. 7pm.” Tens of thousands of viewers joined the stream a

‘I fought until the end: Danielle breaks silence after NewJeans departure via livestream

Former NewJeans member Danielle said she "fought until the very end" to stay with the group during a livestream Monday, marking her first public message since her agency, Ador, announced the termination of her exclusive contract. Speaking directly to the group’s official fan base, known as Bunnies, via YouTube and Instagram Live, the singer said she had made every effort to remain with the group. “I can say one thing very clearly. I fought until the very end to be together with the members,” she said. While circumstances have placed her in a different position, she said her feelings toward the group have not changed. The remarks came after Ador's statement last month that it had concluded it would be difficult to continue working with Danielle amid an ongoing contract dispute involving the group. The label said members Haerin, Hyein and Hanni agreed to return to the agency, while discussions were continuing with Minji after a court ruling requiring all five members to honor their exclusive contracts through 2029. Confirming her departure from the group, the agency later filed a law

Steve Yoo signals music return despite entry ban, past denials of profit motive

Steve Yoo, also known as Yoo Seung-jun, a Korean American singer, rapper and actor who has been banned from entering South Korea for more than two decades due to draft evasion allegations, has teased a new music release in collaboration with rapper JUSTHIS. The move has drawn attention as Yoo previously asserted that he had “absolutely no intention of making money in Korea.” Attention is now focused on whether this release signals an attempt to resume activities in Korea. On Monday, Yoo posted a video on his YouTube channel showing him working in a studio with JUSTHIS. He added the caption, “HOME HOME (YSJ Version) unreleased. YSJ X JUSTHIS M/V coming soon!!” Last November, Yoo featured on the track “Home Home” from JUSTHIS’ full-length album “LIT.” His announcement of a “Yoo Seung-jun version” of the song has fueled speculation about a potential comeback in the K-pop scene. Yoo became the center of a major controversy in 2002. Just before his scheduled military conscription, he traveled to the United States for performances and later acquired U.S. citizenship, reno

'KPop Demon Hunters' wins big at Golden Globes with best Animated film, song

Netflix’s animated hit "KPop Demon Hunters" emerged as a major winner at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, Sunday (local time), taking home Best Animated Feature alongside Best Original Song for its standout track "Golden." The double win cemented the K-pop-inspired film’s status as one of the night’s most successful titles. Directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, along with producer Michelle Wong, accepted the award for Best Animated Feature on behalf of the team. Kang expressed gratitude to the Golden Globes and to everyone who believed a film so deeply rooted in Korean culture could resonate globally. "Through this film we really wanted to depict female characters the way that we know women, which is really strong and bold, really silly and weird and really hungry for food, and sometimes a little thirsty," Kang said. Appelhans called the project "a love letter to music and the power it has to connect us, to make us see some kind of shared humanity, which we could use in the world these days." "We have to thank the fans for embracing the film, it meant everything, keeping the honm

G-Dragon’s ‘accidental’ like on BLACKPINK Jennie’s viral stage clip draws attention

A single tap was all it took to send K-pop fans into another frenzy. BIGBANG’s G-Dragon is trending across social media after he briefly “liked” a video of BLACKPINK’s Jennie performing at the Golden Disc Awards — then quickly removed it, leaving behind screenshots and renewed speculation about their long-rumored relationship. The moment happened Sunday, when the official Golden Disc Awards channel uploaded a short-form clip highlighting Jennie’s closing-stage performance from the 40th Golden Disc Awards with Upbit, held the previous evening at the Taipei Dome in Taiwan. Fans quickly noticed that G-Dragon, who has been repeatedly linked to Jennie in dating rumors over the years, had pressed the “like” button on the video. The reaction disappeared soon after, but by then, screenshots and comments saying “G-Dragon liked it” had already spread across platforms, turning the incident into a viral talking point among Gen Z and millennial K-pop fans. The buzz was amplified by the fact that both artists were major winners at the same ceremony. G-Dragon took home the Digital So

Netflix’s animated hit "KPop Demon Hunters" emerged as a major winner at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards, Sunday (local time), taking home Best Animated Feature alongside Best Original Song for its standout track "Golden," cementing the K-pop-inspired film’s status as one of the night’s most successful titles. The Best Song went to Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seo, Park Hong Jun, Kim Eun-jae — also known as EJAE — and Mark Sonnenblick, who are credited for the song's music and lyrics. EJAE reflected on her own journey from K-pop trainee to singer-songwriter. "When I was a little girl, I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fulfill one dream, to become a K-pop idol. And I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn't good enough. I leaned on songs and music to get through it. So now I'm here as a singer and a songwriter," EJAE said. "It's a dream come true to be part of a song that's helping other girls, other boys and everyone of all ages to get through their hardships and to accept themselves." "Golden" beat a slate of high-profile contenders such as "Dre

"Golden," the standout track from Netflix’s animated feature “KPop Demon Hunters,” won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards Sunday (local time), giving the K-pop-inspired film one of the night’s marquee music honors. The award went to Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, Jeong Hoon Seo, Park Hong Jun, Kim Eun-jae — also known as EJAE — and Mark Sonnenblick, who are credited for the song's music and lyrics. "Golden" beat a slate of high-profile contenders such as "Dream as One" from "Avatar: Fire and Ash" by Miley Cyrus and two "Wicked: For Good" entries by Stephen Schwartz — "No Place Like Home" and "The Girl in the Bubble." While “KPop Demon Hunters” is not a Korean studio production, its creative identity leans heavily on K-pop’s performance language and Korean pop culture — a mix that helped push “Golden” beyond the film itself and into the awards season conversation.
