AKMU, formerly Akdong Musician, is a talented duo of sibling musicians. The group consists of siblings Lee Chanhyuk and Lee Suhyun who won the second season of K-pop Star in 2013. They officially debuted on April 7, 2014, with their critically acclaimed album “Play,” which showcased their unique style of folk-pop and witty lyrics. On November 21, 2025, it was reported that AKMU will be leaving YG Entertainment after 12 years with the agency. The duo's contract are set to expire in December. Hours later, YG Entertainment confirmed AKMU's departure and announced that the duo would be going independent. Their name, AKMU, is a shortened form of their original Korean name, Akdong Musician. In the group, Lee Chan-hyuk is the primary songwriter and composer, while Lee Su-hyun contributes with her vocals.
