Girls' Generation's Tiffany, actor Byun Yo-han get married

Tiffany Young, a Korean American member of K-pop band Girls' Generation, married actor Byun Yo-han on Friday, Byun's agency said. The two legally registered their marriage "based on their deep trust and love for each other," and wedding plans are still in the making, TEAMHOPE said. "They are at the stage of carefully considering a simple wedding ceremony in the form of a church service where they share their gratitude with family members," the agency said. "As they start a new journey of life, they plan to remember the support and love sent to them until now and repay by showing a more mature side of themselves." Since debuting in 2011, Byun has starred in various hit TV dramas and movies, including "Misaeng" (2014) and "Mr. Sunshine" (2018). Tiffany, who rose to global fame as a member of Girls' Generation, ended her contract with SM Entertainment in 2017 and expanded her career with acting roles in "Reborn Rich" (2022) and Disney+'s Korean original series "Uncle Samsik" (2024). The two reportedly became close while working together on "Uncle Samsik" and publicly disclosed their relation

[K-pop Report Card] What landed, what didn't and what to skip from Jan.-Feb.

K-pop wasted little time setting the tone for 2026. January and February arrived packed with heavyweight comebacks from the genre's biggest names alongside ambitious debuts from new acts eager to claim their place. LNGSHOT — "Moonwalkin'" from "SHOT CALLERS," released Jan. 13 Verdict: Surprisingly good While the rookie boy band's predebut release, "Saucin'," made it easy to assume that LNGSHOT would fall neatly into a hip-hop rivalry narrative with HYBE Labels' CORTIS, “Moonwalkin’,” the official title track of the four-member band's debut album "SHOT CALLERS," arrived and quietly refused that storyline. Where CORTIS leans playful, LNGSHOT chooses a more grounded, groove-heavy lane, almost like rookies deciding they would rather age well than trend fast. Handling accessible R&B and hip-hop without sounding like an industry plant is harder than it looks, and the group clears that bar with ease. There are also obvious nods to pop icons Michael Jackson, Destiny’s Child and even early Justin Bieber, especially in one member’s vocal tone that feels tailor-made for global pop ears.

BLACKPINK turns Korea’s flagship museum pink for ‘DEADLINE’ comeback

The National Museum of Korea (NMK) is designed to protect and showcase centuries of the nation's history. For nearly two weeks, its monumental “Path of History” lobby is doing something else entirely: pulsing to the beats of K-pop icon BLACKPINK's new release. Ahead of the girl group's third mini-album "DEADLINE," which drops Friday at 2 p.m., BLACKPINK partnered with the country's flagship museum for a special project running through March 8. The collaboration opened with a prerelease listening event held inside the museum's main ground floor atrium, Thursday, marking the first time the institution has allowed its symbolic central space to be used for a K-pop partnership. Beneath an eight-meter digital rendering of the Gwanggaeto Stele, a towering monument commemorating the Goruryeo era's (37 BCE-668 CE) King Gwanggaeto the Great, guests formed a loose but eager circle as the album's five new tracks filled the vast hall. From the viral prerelease single "JUMP" to its widely-anticipated title track "GO," the music reverberated against stone and glass surfaces more accustomed to the

Korea's content industry exports hit record level

Korea's content industry exports hit a record high in 2024, fueled by the global boom of Korean pop culture, known as "hallyu," the government said Friday. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported that the industry's exports totaled $14.08 billion in 2024, up 5.5 percent from 2023. It marked the highest level since the ministry began tracking the data and the second consecutive record-breaking year. During the same period, imports came to $915.56 million, resulting in a trade surplus of $13.159 billion. The content industry is an umbrella term encompassing publishers, broadcasters, advertisers and firms producing music, computer games, animations, movies, musicals and other creative content. The game industry remained the dominant force, accounting for 60.4 percent of total content exports, or $8.5 billion. The music industry followed with $1.8 billion, while the broadcasting and video sector earned $1.26 billion. The content industry's total revenue also rose 2.1 percent to 157.4 trillion won ($107.2 billion) from a year earlier, buoyed by stronger exports. Broadcasting and v
